ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Welcome to the Department of Agricultural Engineering in the Gary Magadzire School of Agriculture and Engineering. The department is established based on Professional ethics and Practice, initially offering a Bachelor of Science Degree in Irrigation and Water Engineering. Additionally, the department is preparing to offer other five Engineering Degree Programmes: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering and Agricultural Engineering. The current thrust of the department is responsive to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, to add the heritage-based engineering dimension to agriculture, manufacturing, mining and health. Forthwith, the department is committed to advance application of engineering principles fostering creativity, critical thinking, communication and collaboration towards improving the efficiency, productivity, and sustainability of agricultural systems. Concurrent engineering models are adopted incorporating automation and robotics, artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) to enhance the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). The degree programs are aimed at producing Engineering Practitioners, Academics and Researchers who will make significant contribution to national development.
